On the evening of June 9, 2024, the 2nd Ho Chi Minh City River Festival came to a spectacular close with the artistic performance "Sparkling River," featuring a fascinating drone show with 1,100 drones, complemented by thrilling water sports activities and a stunning boat parade on the Saigon River.

 

Over 10 days, nearly 20 unique programs were presented at the Ho Chi Minh City River Festival 2024, offering a wide array of engaging activities impressive numbers: The highlight of the opening night is the special art program “The River Tells Stories” Season 2, themed “The Legendary Voyage,” featuring contributions from over 1,100 performers. This spectacular event, with its grand scale and numerous surprises, attracts nearly 9,000 visitors and quickly becomes a viral topic across social media and news.

 

 

 

 

The “Trên Bến Dưới Thuyền” area in District 1 showcases nearly 20 stalls and 7 boats, attracting 8,000 local and international visitors who explore, shop, and savor the unique dishes of the Southern region. Meanwhile, the "Trên Bến Dưới Thuyền" fruit week in District 8 brings to life a vibrant riverside scene rich with the distinct culture of the Western region. This event boasts 118 booths from the Southwestern provinces and draws an astonishing 2.2 million visitors.

 

Adding to the festival's dynamic atmosphere are the Ho Chi Minh City Open River Swimming Championship and the Open Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) Championship 2024, featuring nearly 600 athletes from 51 teams. The Ho Chi Minh City River Cuisine Contest 2024, themed “Flavors of the Water Region,” sees 28 teams compete and 40,000 visitors enjoying the culinary delights.

 

The closing night is equally spectacular, presenting a light art performance by 1,100 drones, a water sports show by 100 athletes, and a parade of 100 sports vehicles. Additionally, 15 canoes, restaurant boats, yachts, river buses, and double-decker river buses participate in a grand procession.

Numerous themed programs and experiential spaces attract thousands of check-ins. Additionally, the festival introduces 10 river tour programs offered by travel businesses and 6 new river tourism products during the event.
