Welcoming Spring with Lunar New Year Festival

On the occasion of the Traditional New Year, you can go to ancient and sacred spaces that locals often frequent such as Vinh Nghiem Pagoda, Tan Dinh Church, Jade Emperor Pagoda or Tomb of Le Van Duyet to light incense and pray for a happy, peaceful and prosperous new year The most monumental activities is the Lunar New Year Festival held by the Chinese community in Cho Lon from the 12th to the 15th (in Lunar calendar). In the summer, performing the Ao Dai Festival

Early summer is the time when Ho Chi Minh City eagerly organizes the annual Ao Dai Festival. Initiated in 2014, the festival contributes to honor and promote the beauty of the traditional Ao Dai of Vietnamese women. There are many activities for you to experience such as visiting the Vietnamese Costume Institute, watching the Ao Dai performance, listening to the sharing from experts in the seminar on the topic of Ao Dai. Throughout the city, locals eagerly participated in photo and video photography contests in traditional Ao Dai. You can also find and buy an Ao Dai ready-made by artisans for sale at traditional shops and markets in the center of District 1.

 

 


 

Mid-Autumn Festival featuring ceremony of Nghinh Ong Can Gio

In the middle of autumn, the fishing community living in Can Gio district, southeast of the city, jubilantly organizes Nghinh Ong Festival, which lasts from August 15 to 17 (in Lunar calendar). The festival is an occasion for the fishing community to give thanks for a bountiful fishing season and pray for peace for the new fishing season. On the shore, there are so many colorful parades; they also have an exhibition of marine development achievements combined with singing and performing arts. Under the wharf, many boats, both large and small, are busy with painting and decorating. You can buy boat tickets to watch the procession of the sea god, enjoy fresh seafood and the festive atmosphere.
